I write this post as a tribute to my friend AB’s facebook account. It’s tragic the account had a major break(hack)down. It was his first and only account; he had been using it for the past four years. It was the thing closest to his heart. Well, until it was brutally hacked into and the hacker had this igneous idea of uploading some gay (AB please don’t get humiliated, have to use “The word”) model’s picture. And the pictures on top said I want to be your princess. Now I wonder what kind of prayer request can we have for the four year old facebook account with a network of 1351 and in-numerous pictures uploaded. Here goes :
Dear Mr Zukerberg (he should be the god of this evil social networking world)
With a very heavy heart and profound grief we are departing from AB’s first facebook account. You have been very unfair to us. Your claims of having the most secure site have been proven wrong. How could any random person do that? All attempts of mankind to recover the struggling (read hacked) account proved futile.
My friend AB , is heartbroken. I mean how can he rebuild his network, let’s not even mention the pictures and videos he was tagged in. Will he be ever able to recover from this setback? Will the new facebook account be the same? The answer to this is no…it isn’t possible. Probably the time is the best healer and AB will learn to live without his beloved account.
I personally will miss the comments from that account. They were so thoughtful and I never got such comments.
We cannot do anything about the lost account except hope for it to rest in peace. And learn to live with the new one.
RIP AB’s first facebook account with a network of 1351 and in-numerous pictures.
Yours Sincerely Phoenix
Oh wait , we didn't have the two minutes silence .
Yes I know by now you might have declared me to be a crackpot. I could not help writing this tribute. It’s ridiculous how we depend on the social networking sites , that we actually cannot afford to part with our accounts. Why is it that a facebook account is so essential? I just don't get it. I detest the idea of sending or receiving virtual greetings or talking to friends online. The arrival of SNS has disrupted the communication in entire human race. Instead of meeting friends in person and having the real fun , we prefer meeting online .
Are the virtual meetings good enough to reconnect with friends? To some extent its okay , but what is happening right now is addiction. I once suggested Uncle V and Swat to meet more often (in holidays otherwise I have an overdose of them in college) and get away from facebook. And the reply I got was " lets just talk online , it saves resources ." Like Seriously ? Resources?
Even I am forced to check my facebook account everyday , probably all of us are , we call it boring but we do it because of the reasons very well known to us . But is it that hard to resist using it. I don't know whether it has made things harder or easier. Actually not easier, it is just a way all of us have found .
Maybe one day we get over this addiction and get a better alternative to meet friends. Just hope that alternative is not skype or google + (which I guess is already dead). Time for a reality check.
